Au Sable RiverSometimes you gotta just take a break. So this past weekend I went up north to Grayling, Michigan to do some fly fishing on the Au Sable river with my buddy Greg and another friend of his. My first time ever throwing flies, but I tell ya even if I had not caught any fish, it was an amazing place to see. We left 6:20am on Friday and hit camp just short of 10am. Great drive up, all the fall colors were starting show. We hit our first stretch of the Au Sable around 12 and it last a good 4 hours. I got my first catch just about 2 hours in. A pretty small Brook trout but it was a beautiful fish. After that stint we had to walk a couple miles back to camp and headed into Grayling for some dinner at Spikes. Next day we were up at 6am and headed out after some coffee. We fished 3 different stretches that day for almost 15 hours on Saturday, it was a good day. I landed a Brookie, Brown and 14″ Rainbow and could not have been happier. It was a great weekend to relax and take in all that mother nature can provide. Can’t wait to do it all again. Oh and thanks to my wife for not totally hating me for taking off for the weekend. I owe you one. You can view pics from the trip here.
